BBG would be abolished, its CEO would become a Presidential appointee and all U.S. international broadcasting would be consolidated into two entities – a VOA-like “nonprofit” and everything else – under a measure introduced in Congress this week.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia and Middle East Broadcasting would all be merged into “ a single, consolidated, private, non-profit corporation“ and relocated in a new “Global Engagement Center” whose function would be “to counter propaganda and disinformation directed at United States allies and partners” [(b)(3)] and  “in coordination with the Secretary of Defense.”[(a)(3)]
Voice of America would be abolished and its functions would be moved to a “new independent grantee organization, as a private non-profit organization to carry out all broadcasting and related programs currently performed by the Voice of America.”
