The NATO Liaison Office in Georgia (NLO) is pleased to announce a call for applications for one internship position working with the Public Diplomacy Officer.

The duration of the internship is 6 months.

The international internship will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an international organization, to develop and improve his/her analytical, drafting, public diplomacy and organizational skills by engaging in various spheres of the NLO`s activities. The selected candidate will be offered nominal stipend in the amount 100 EUR a month. This position does not carry any expectation of subsequent employment.

Work hours are part time, flexible, and negotiable.

Title: NATO Liaison Office Internship
Starting date: June 2017

Tasks and responsibilities:

** Under the direct supervision of the Head of Administration and Public Diplomacy Expert, the Intern will have the following duties:
** Will support the Public Diplomacy Officer to conduct daily monitoring of national, regional and international media and assists in preparing weekly news digests;
** Assist Public Diplomacy Officer in establishing and managing social media accounts.
** Assists with the organization of briefings, conferences, roundtables and other public diplomacy events as required;
** Assists with drafting official correspondence with the government of Georgia, Embassies accredited in Georgia and the NGOs working with NLO;
** Assists with creating database for NLO contacts;
** Performs other office duties as required.

Qualifications and skills:

** Internship applicants must meet the following criteria:
** University-level proficiency in Georgian and English languages;
** Successfully pass a security background check from the national authorities;
** Armenian, Azeri or Russian language proficiency is desirable, but not required.
** Education and work experience
** A Bachelor`s degree or current enrolment in a Master`s programme related to media, communications, journalism, international relations or another relevant discipline at a university of recognised standing;
** Relevant work experience is an advantage;
** General knowledge of the historical, political and security environment of Georgia;
** Availability to work part-time for 6 months.

Skills:

** Excellent writing skills;
** Good analytical skills; ability to identify, collect, process and synthesise relevant information;
** Proficient in using social media, notably Facebook and Twitter: ability to observe trends as well as drafting concrete and concise message.
** Strong organizational and time-management skills, including an ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks;
** Good computer skills.
** Other
** Strong self-motivation, perseverance, ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines;
** Attention to detail;

Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people of different national, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

Note: Up to 10 candidates will be invited to take an English language proficiency test. Candidates with sufficiently high scores will be invited for an interview. NLO will inform the candidates of the selection results by the end of May 2017.

Background:

NATO Liaison Office in Georgia (NLO) officially opened in 2010. Its purpose is to advise and assist the government of Georgia in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration. It conducts liaison with government and non-governmental organizations from Georgia, as well as Allied and Partner nations to enhance cooperation between NATO and Georgia. NLO also assists NATO and Allied nations with bilateral and multilateral projects, events, and visits.
